During my sleep medicine rotation, I found my passion in caring for patients with sleep disorders. Often, sleep is minimized to make time for other areas of life. This, in turn, can negatively impact an individual’s quality of life. I find it rewarding when patients are able to wake up feeling refreshed after suffering through years of inadequate rest.

I believe sleep is a determinant of health, as poor sleep quality is linked to chronic health conditions. Research conducted by the American Heart Association (AHA) supports that sleep is crucial for cardiovascular health, and what was previously known as Life’s Simple 7 – the most important components of heart health – by the American Heart Association is now called Life’s Essential 8 after the addition of sleep health in 2022. Therefore, I am committed to improving the sleep health of the people within our community and help them feel more present in their lives by providing individualized patient-centered care.
