Comprehensive Sleep Care Center A-STEP Introductory Course
Welcome to A-STEP, the Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program
A-STEP is an alternative, fast-tracked education program that will help you obtain your goal of a career in the field of sleep technology and becoming a registered sleep technologist. A-STEP provides participants with standardized education and training that develops a knowledge-base about sleep medicine and the professional skills required of a sleep technologist. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has example job descriptions for the PSG Trainee and PSG Technologist.
There are three parts to the comprehensive A-STEP program that must be completed:
- 80-Hour Introductory Course
- 80-Hour Introductory Course Final Exam
- Online Self-Study Modules
Part 1 consists of 80-hours of combined on-line instruction, live classroom sessions and practical hands-on training.
Part 2: The course concludes with an online final exam, which CSCC will proctor the final day of the course.
Part 3: the On-Line Self-Study Modules, consist of a series of 26 interactive self-study learning videos ranging from 45-60 minutes in length, followed by a brief set of post-test questions. The self-study modules are required to be completed as a third and final step towards meeting the requirements for Pathway
About Our Course
CSCC A-STEP Course classes are held Monday through Friday, from 9am-5pm, over a two-week period. Some of the on-line learning is required to be completed prior to Day 1 of the course. Students will be expected to spend some evening hours in the CSCC sleep lab to observe the interaction between the sleep technologist and patient, patient hook-up, calibrations, and recording of sleep data.
