Our sleep doctors will evaluate your overall health and current Central Sleep Apnea treatment to determine if remedē might be a suitable alternative for you.

How Remedē / Respicardia Works to Treat CSA
The remedē System is an implantable system which stimulates the phrenic nerve in the chest. It sends signals to the large muscle between the chest and abdomen to stimulate breathing in the patient in the same way that the brain does.
A small device is implanted by a trained cardiologist under the skin in the upper part of the chest and thin lead wires are inserted into the blood vessels near the phrenic nerve.
The patient’s respiratory signals are monitored while sleeping and the nerve is stimulated to move the diaphragm to restore normal breathing patterns.
What to Expect with Remedē
Our sleep doctors will evaluate your overall health and current Central Sleep Apnea treatments to determine if remedē might be a suitable alternative for you. You may need to have a current in-lab sleep study done to get a baseline for treatment.
The procedure is minimally invasive and is usually an outpatient procedure performed with light sedation.
A small device will be place under your skin in the upper area of your chest. This device will continuously monitor your breathing and stabilize it while you sleep.
Most patients can resume much of their normal routine within a week or so. However, you will be asked not to lift your arm above shoulder height for a period of time after the procedure.
We see many patients who have stopped using or are unable to tolerate ASV or PAP Therapy. Remedē therapy represents a significant advance in Central Sleep Apnea treatment and is clinically proven to reduce central apnea events. We have seen a high level of patient satisfaction and therapy adherence with remedē, and we’re excited to be able to offer this promising therapy to patients.
